Eco-Tourism Project near Taï National Park in Côte d'Ivoire

The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF) has received funding to initiate and implement an Eco-tourist project "Nature and Culture" in the village of Taï near the long-term research project on chimpanzees in the Taï National Park, on-going in this same region for already 30 years. The activities of the WCF, mainly education and biomonitoring, are being conducted around Taï National Park since 2002. WCF is now looking for a program officer to overview all the activities planned in this new Eco-tourism project.

This new project is called: Conservation and Development through ecotourism in the Taï National Park, Côte d'Ivoire and it is conducted in cooperation with the local authorities. It is planned for 5 years with a financial investment credited year by year.

To start with, in year 1, the plan is to build a site, an "Auberge Nature", in a beautiful spot near Taï village at the border to Liberia. The architect for this construction has been found. The consultant we are looking for is expected to deal with the initiation and management of the project with regard to the construction, as well as to initiate the various activities with the local population.

The consultancy contract is for one year, to be renewed from year to year upon mutual agreement. Excellent spoken French language is important, while reporting will have to be also in English. Experience in managing projects in the tropics is required. The monthly consultancy fee is 3'000 USD, housing in Taï village and the use and running costs of a car.
