Canada-Summer field work in ENTOMOLOGY (May - August)

Opportunity Description:

PLEASE NOTE THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST START BY MAY 07, 2010.

A summer research assistant opportunity is available for work on the threatened Mormon metalmark (Apodemia mormo) butterfly population in and around GRASSLANDS NATIONAL PARK, Saskatchewan, CANADA, as part of a graduate thesis.

Duties include insect and plant sampling, plant species identification and other related field tasks. The successful candidate will live in or near Val Marie, Saskatchewan for the summer. The ideal candidate will be able to work in dry and hot environmental conditions as well as hike up to 15 km a day. Experience living and working in a rural setting with some native prairie plant identification skills is a definite asset. A valid driver's license is necessary.

Salary: $2000 per month plus some extra support for food and lodging. Wages may be higher if assistant has experience
