Research Technician : Monterotondo, Italy

European Molecular Biology Laboratory LogoThe European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany), with additional sites in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
                                             
The Asari group is looking for a Research Technician who will participate in neuroscience research as part of an interdisciplinary team of young scientists working within a highly collaborative international environment. The person appointed will conduct at least one of the following major tasks, depending on his/her interests and qualifications:

(a) Engineering tasks: he/she will build and test devices for setting up experimental in vivo electrophysiology/imaging systems, and maintain workshop equipment and safe working conditions

(b) Wet Lab tasks: he/she will directly take part in experimental projects, such as viral neural tracing and neurophysiological data collection

(c) Dry Lab tasks: he/she will be in charge of quantitative data analysis, software development, and computational modelling

In addition, he/she will share responsibilities for general laboratory organization, maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment, and provide general support for group members throughout their scientific projects.

Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific discipline is required. Strong interest in neuroscience research, and experience and expertise in at least one of the following categories are essential: (a) engineering skills such as electronics and machining, (b) wet lab skills such as molecular biology, electrophysiology, and microscopy, and (c) dry lab skills such as computer programming and statistics.
