Senior Project Biologist Hawaii

We have a rare and immediate opportunity for a full-time Senior Project Biologist in Maui, Hawaii. The qualified candidate will manage the Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) compliance and mitigation programs for the Auwahi Wind Energy Facility. The successful candidate must have 5 or more years of applicable experience in or around the Hawaiian or Pacific Islands.

In this position the qualified candidate will:
•Manage permit compliance and field staff.
•Monitor federal and state threatened and endangered species.
•Implement and oversee predator control.
•Coordinate terrestrial habitat restoration; and
•Conduct post-construction mortality monitoring.
To qualify you must have:
•A BS, MS preferred, in an applicable field (i.e., biology, environmental science/policy, natural resources planning, ecology, wildlife biology, or a closely related discipline).
•Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
•Demonstrated record of outstanding management skills.
•Exceptional organizational and time management skills along with the ability to handle multiple tasks.
•Solid working knowledge of regulatory compliance, natural/biological resources management, and habitat conservation planning.
•Strong report writing and statistical analysis ability.
•Experience coordinating field staff, clients, agency biologists, public and private land owners, project partners, and subcontractors.
•Experience conducting physically demanding field work (e.g., on loose, sharp volcanic rock, at high elevations, and in inclement weather), including use of compass and GPS.
•Familiarity with Hawaii ecosystems and knowledge of native birds, bats, plants.
•Knowledge of seabird biology and experience with seabird surveys.
•Experience with invasive species management (plants).
•Experience in mammalian predator control.
