Postdoctoral Research Associate – Wildlife Ecology-Delaware




I am seeking a postdoctoral research associate with an interest in wildlife spatial ecology.  The successful applicant is expected to draft manuscripts for publication in high impact journals and present results at scientific conferences using existing spatial data for multiple taxa. Data sets include multi-year GPS movement data for white-tailed deer and wild turkey, as well as multi-year camera trap data for carnivores. The successful candidate will also collaborate on ongoing research projects involving white-tailed deer, sika deer, wild turkey, and bobcat. My expectation is for the successful applicant to apply for external grants to explore additional research opportunities of shared interest. There will also be teaching opportunities for undergraduate courses in wildlife ecology and conservation.
Qualifications
1) Ph.D. in wildlife ecology, conservation biology, or closely related field
2) Excellent written and oral communication skills
3) Demonstrated record and desire to publish in peer-reviewed journals
4) Proficiency in R, especially spatial packages, and ArcGIS software
5) Demonstrated competency in spatial statistics with a special emphasis spatial/temporal influences on survival, resource selection, spatial capture-recapture models, occupancy analyses, and related approaches
6) Strong work ethic with willingness to work collaboratively with external funders, ongoing graduate research, and undergraduate students
