Natural Resources Specialist, Temporary Contract - Shanghai
Description
With work at an international level growing rapidly, the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) seeks to hire a Natural Resources Specialist. Under the direction of Wildlife Habitat Council, the specialist, as a WHC representative, is primarily tasked with the technical portions of the projects, consisting of conducting on-site environmental and conservation education assessments, followed by preparing a detailed report on findings and recommendations. The focus of the work is to evaluate potential for voluntary habitat enhancement projects on corporate lands. The contractor is under the supervision of the Director of Programs, working out of WHC's Silver Spring headquarters. The demands include, but are not limited to, contracts to be conducted in Shanghai, China. The contractor should be available as soon as possible. The hours vary by assignment and depend on various aspects of the project, such as time on-site, travel time, research and writing time. A contract is typically conducted in a period of 120 days.
Qualifications
We seek a creative, enthusiastic person with a graduate or undergraduate degree in wildlife biology, natural resources, biology, or related field. Related work experience is desirable. Excellent writing and editing skills, as well as a familiarity with wildlife habitat management techniques, are essential. Other characteristics important for the job include attention to detail, the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, and an outgoing, yet serious, personality. Applicant must currently reside in or near Shanghai, China. Relocation expenses are not provided.
Compensation
The position is compensated at a rate of USD $18-30 depending on duties.
