Humpback Whale Volunteer research assistant

Become an OTIONOS volunteer humpback whale research assistant in the beautiful Turks and Caicos Islands and participate in an ongoing study to conserve the magnificent humpback whale.
As a Volunteer humpback whale research assistant you will spend 5 days a week at sea recording behavioral response data, taking acoustic recordings, plot GPS positions, capture identification images above and below the water and use underwater sizing techniques to age calves.
You will support a research strategy that aims to tackle increasing tourism pressure on these animals on a suspected breeding ground. Data collected will be processed and used for management strategies such as a code of ethical whale watching and reserve designation.
This program is perfect for non divers looking to get up close and personal with humpback whales, gain insight in to the breeding behaviors, be part of a very small group (4-6) of research volunteers, boost your marine conservation career and make a difference! Learn, Conserve, Immerse yourself.
