Summer Biology Research Internship- Harvard

The Combes Lab (www.oeb.harvard.edu/faculty/combes) is looking for applicants for a 10 week paid internship conducting research on the biomechanics, behavior, and ecology of dragonflies. Interns will play a crucial role in a novel investigation of the relationship between biomechanical aspects of flight behavior and prey capture success in dragonflies, one of nature's most successful aerial predators. Interns will be responsible for conducting experimental predation trials in an outdoor artificial dragonfly habitat, collecting behavioral information and multi-camera video sequences of predation attempts, performing field observations on wild dragonflies, and assisting with data analysis. The internship is located at Harvard's Concord Field Station, in Bedford, MA. Car-pooling to the field station from Cambridge, MA is available via the CFS van (~30 minute commute from Harvard campus). Start/end dates and daily hours are flexible. Interns will be paid a $4000 stipend for the 10-week internship.
