Job Description: The Upland Ecosystem Restoration Project at Tall Timbers Research Station is seeking two individuals to assist a graduate student/field technician to implement biological surveys within upland ecosystems on public land throughout Florida. Duties include: point counts and flush transects for resident and migratory birds, vegetation sampling, timber stand composition and data entry. Extensive overnight travel will be required. Work schedules and conditions will vary, so flexibility is a must. The position will start January 2010 and run for 12 16 weeks (end dates are flexible).
Qualifications: Candidate should possess or be currently seeking B.S. in wildlife
biology/ecology or related field. Previous experience in identifying resident and migratory songbirds by sight and sound that occur in Floridas upland ecosystems is beneficial, but not required. Prior field experience is desired, but not required. Individuals need a valid drivers license and must have a clean driving record.
