The Science Officer’s responsibilities will be to lead a newly established fisheries data collection project that will be targeting sub-tidal, and potentially inter-tidal, fisheries resources. Responsibilities will include:
• Oversight of data collectors,
• Data collection,
• Database management,
• Data summaries and analysis,
• Possibility of conducting fish habitat surveys in seagrass and/or mangroves.
A successful candidate will possess, at least, one of the following criteria:
• Field experience collecting fisheries data,
• Experience with managing and analyzing fisheries data,
• Experience in identification of coral reef fish of the Western Indian Ocean region,
• Highly-motivated to gain experience working in developing fisheries management
policy,
• Ability to work well as part of an international team.
Additional desired skills, include:
• Proficiency speaking/reading/writing French and/or Malagasy, and/or
• Experience working in isolated environments.
Compensation includes:
• A monthly stipend,
