The IfAÖ Institute for Applied Ecosystem Research GmbH, has been researching and evaluating aquatic and terrestrial biotopes and ecosystems for more than 20 years. At our location in Hamburg, we are looking for a scientist (m / f) in the field of ornithology / marine mammals at full time (40 hours / 5 days) as soon as possible.
Your tasks:
Independent compilation of expert reports on resting and migrating birds as well as marine mammals
Statistical data analysis of migratory, resting birds and sea urchin data
Statistical consulting
Field-ecological surveys of birds (off- and onshore) and marine mammals
Quality assurance of data and expert opinions
Your requirements:
Completed studies in biology or environmental sciences with experience in the field of ornithology, marine biology and nature conservation
Several years of professional experience in the expert field
Very good knowledge and experience in the application of statistical analysis methods
Knowledge in the field of European nature conservation guidelines is desirable (FFH-RL, Vogelschutz- RL) and environmental knowledge (BNatschG, etc.)
Knowledge about other species groups such as fish, benthos and bats are advantageous
Safe handling of database programs (Microsoft Access) and statistical programs (R, SPSS or similar)
Good knowledge of MS-Office, especially Excel
Very good knowledge of English in spoken and written English
Experience in the preparation of scientific expert opinions, reports and peer reviewed papers
Special skills in communication, project management, such as Compliance with time and budget requirements seaworthiness
Possession of a valid driving license, at least Class B
