Paid field research assistant position available in a project of the CIBIO’s Applied Ecology group (http://maerua.iict.pt/applecol/) on the ecology of freshwater semiaquatic mammals (mostly Iberian desman and otter) in Northern Portugal.
Work will start very shortly (mid-end of May 2016), and should end around the end of July, with the possibility that it will continue in September/October and the next year/s.
Salary (35€ per working day) and accommodation (food included) will be provided.
The candidate will mainly assist with data collection and compilation, and report writing, but opportunities to participate as co-author in scientific papers could arise.
People interested in doing a Ph.D. are particularly encouraged to apply, as we would prefer to form a person that could then opt to stay within our research group and perform her/his thesis.
Requirements:
Autonomy, fluent Portuguese (or Italian or English) speaking, car driving license (and possibly experience in 4x4 car driving), and adaptability to difficult field working conditions are required. Statistics and GIS knowledge (and possibly programming skills!) would be an advantage.
Interested candidates: please send asap a private email to lorenzo.quaglietta@gmail.com, with your CV, picture, short motivation letter (no more than 300 words - focused on why you apply and think to be fit for this position), and 1-2 references.
Please note: ONLY selected candidates will be contacted and a Skype meeting will be scheduled for an interview.
Feel free of spreading this announcement through your networks and colleagues.
Sincerely,
Lorenzo Quaglietta
