Background Information
The Wildlife Conservation Society is looking for volunteers for a minimum of 3 months to work on a leatherback nesting beach in southern Gabon.
Duties
Volunteers must be prepared to work in remote field conditions and living the simple field-camp lifestyle, full-time in tents. It is necessary for volunteers to speak some French; some sea turtle experience is preferred but not required. The work will involve night-time data collection on nesting females, as well as daytime nest surveys and hatching studies.
Requirements
WCS Gabon will provide letters of invitation to aid in the visa process for selected volunteers.
Benefits/Costs
The project will cover the costs of national road transport in Gabon and food costs while volunteers are in the field at the project site. All other costs must be paid for by the volunteer, incl. visa, flights etc.
