Background Information
The Mazatlan Aquarium supports distinct conservation and protection programs and has a strong focus on sea turtle conservation. Since the inception of the program in 1991, we have liberated over 270,000 hatchlings and aim to continue with increased research and conservation methods. We also have a hospital wing that takes care and rehabilitates any sea turtles that wash ashore.
Duties
We can host volunteers, students and tourists who want to experience the activities of the Aquarium in protecting the fauna of the area. The time of the stay is dependent upon the person interested and can also include a rotation in the aquarium's departments like live food lab and sea lion department.
We can also host those interested in a more scientific approach like university undergraduates and graduates. Those interested can conduct studies that involve sea turtles (i.e. nesting habits, climatological studies, morphology, development).
